CARITAS – Just Leadership Day

Congratulations to our 5/6 students for their energy and enthusiasm during our ‘Just Leaders Day’ last Thursday at Holy Spirit, New Farm. We joined three other schools in expanding our understanding of the people we support through Project Compassion and the daily struggles these people face. Mr Kerry Drysdale from CARITAS Australia led our day with engaging and thought provoking activities. We learnt to be grateful for all that we have been blessed with and how we can best support others in need. We witnessed how empowering people with knowledge, skills and innovative resources can make for a more just and caring world. Thank you to our student leaders for again leading with such a strong example while representing St Mary of the Cross.

As we experience the 3rd Week in Lent, this week’s story in the Caritas Program is particularly poignant due to the fact that it outlines the experiences of a student at boarding school in the Solomon Islands. This young man is excited by the idea that the school has fresh running water. It is through the work of Caritas that those less fortunate than ourselves can have a better quality of life.
