Library News - Holiday Ideas

In Brisbane, we are fortunate to have access to alternative ways to read and engage with books and stories over the holidays.

Brisbane City Council Libraries

Brisbane City Council Libraries are a wonderful community resource. Take the opportunity over this school holiday break to visit the library and apply for a library card. The library card gives you access to an extraordinary range of resources including physical books, audio books, e-books and movies. BCC Libraries also run school holiday programs. Go to the ‘what’s on’ page, or follow this link to find out what is available in your area: Libraries: What's On

Story Box Library Online

As part of your BCC library subscription, you can access Story Box Library, where authors, illustrators and other luminaries read quality Australian books. Included with these stories are activities you can try at home. Go to Story Box Library

SORA App and Website – Brisbane Catholic Education Digital Library

  • iPad Access: Students in Years 3-6 have accessed the SORA app on their school iPads. Most have been successful in borrowing an e-book or audio book. If you have an iPad at home, you can download the SORA app and choose ‘Brisbane Catholic Education’ as your ‘school’.

  • Laptop Access: If you have access to a laptop or desktop computer, the app can be accessed via the internet here. Choose ‘Brisbane Catholic Education’ as your ‘school’.
